Bird calls / bird song
Red-browed Pardalote

Australia wide, there is quite a bit of regional variation in the calls of all the pardalotes, more noticeable in the Striated, but as these samples demonstrate, the Red-browed is no exception. Sample LS 100104 I recorded near Dajarra in NW Queensland and sample 077-110 not far away at Fountain Springs just east of Mt Isa. #008-001 is a forty year old recording from western NSW and 129-610 is from near Georgetown in Queensland. In the first two samples there is just a single bird calling, but in the next two, two birds, presumably a pair in both cases, were calling. It is tempting to assume that the more soprano individuals were the females, something I could have documented at the time with a bit of careful observation. Sample LS100626 however, from near Green Lake south of Tibooburra in NSW is definitely from a single bird, a male, and was giving two sorts of calls in a long singing session.
