Like its close relative the Striated Grasswren, the Short-tailed has a sweet song. It seems to me a touch more feeble, but that could be because Stokes Hill Lookout where I made the recording is an exposed and windy place. The graphical trace of these calls on my sound programme (PEAK) shows quite a few very high frequency elements that I can only just hear - you may have trouble too. If I raise the level to make them easier to hear, the rest of the recording then suffers from overload and distortion. Life wasn't meant to be easy!
