Click to listen to sound sample Whistling Kites occur all over Australia and Tasmania and are probably the most frequently seen of all our larger birds of prey, possibly because they do patrol the roads a lot in search of roadkill. Elsewhere they feed on a wide range of prey, alive or dead. This may include small mammals, reptiles, birds, fish and insects. They regularly patrol wetlands for water birds.
