Whistling Kites occur all over Australia and Tasmania and are probably the most frequently seen of all our larger birds of prey, possibly because they do patrol the roads a lot in search of roadkill. Elsewhere they feed on a wide range of prey, alive or dead. This may include small mammals, reptiles, birds, fish and insects. They regularly patrol wetlands for water birds.
